Site Preparation & Baseplate Leveling

Step-by-Step Installation Checklist

Section: Site Preparation & Baseplate Leveling

1. Review Installation Requirements

  • ☐ Confirm pump type, dimensions, and mounting method.
  • ☐ Check manufacturer’s installation manual and project specs.
  • ☐ Verify access for maintenance, ventilation, and clearances.

2. Assess Site Conditions

  • ☐ Ensure area is clean, dry, and free from debris or contaminants.
  • ☐ Check for proper drainage and flood risk mitigation.
  • ☐ Confirm structural integrity of the mounting location.

3. Prepare Foundation

  • ☐ Construct or verify a reinforced concrete foundation, per design spec.
  • ☐ Ensure the foundation is cured (minimum 28 days for concrete).
  • ☐ Anchor bolts must be set correctly (template recommended).

4. Inspect Baseplate

  • ☐ Ensure baseplate is undamaged and free from rust or distortion.
  • ☐ Clean all contact surfaces (remove rust, oil, dirt).
  • ☐ Dry fit the baseplate on the foundation to check bolt alignment.

5. Level the Baseplate

  • ☐ Use precision machinist’s level or laser level.
  • ☐ Shim or grout as required to ensure full contact.
  • ☐ Target level tolerance: ±0.25 mm/m (or as per manufacturer guidance).

6. Grouting the Baseplate

  • ☐ Use non-shrink grout suited for dynamic machinery.
  • ☐ Pour grout under baseplate, avoiding air pockets.
  • ☐ Allow full cure time (usually 24–72 hours depending on grout type).

7. Final Checks

  • ☐ Recheck level after grout has cured.
  • ☐ Tighten foundation bolts to the specified torque.
  • ☐ Document leveling and alignment values for QA records.
